Looking north from Sixth and Olive Streets, 1955-2011


The original photograph shows part of the western corner of Pershing Square, about three years after the completion of its underground garage in 1952. Aside from the park’s later redesign, one can see in today’s view the disappearance of the Philharmonic Auditorium and the dramatic rise of Bunker Hill’s skyscraper cluster west of Olive Street.
